Album Background:

The idea for Rainstriker came whilst Eleni was working on the BBC One David Dimbleby series, Seven Ages of Britain, together with her younger brother, Adam Violaris (one of the composers of the series) & her father, Andonis Violaris (the executive music producer of the series). Eleni was both “the voice” of the series (singing all the cues & songs), as well as the writer of the lyrics in various languages, including English, Latin, Italian, & Anglo-Saxon. The use of Anglo-Saxon lyrics during the end titles song, struck a special chord with BBC producers & BBC audiences alike & much fan mail was received about this, including enquires about Eleni & Adam’s other music for the series. The series was the most expensive produced by the BBC at the time and played to around six million viewers a week when it first aired. Impressed by Eleni & Adam’s talents, major record companies offered to release a soundtrack CD of the series, as well as Rainstriker, which they heard whilst it was still in the ‘demo’ stage. The series has gone on to be broadcast & sold in over 100 countries around the world, together with a book & DVD.
